Debt Settlement is a very aggressive approach to helping
clients who are overburdened with large amounts of debt.
One of the reasons for a low retention rate with most
debt settlement companies is continued creditor harassment.
We have seen a drastic reduction in client cancellations
as a direct result from using the Shield. When used correctly,
it is impossible for collectors to get through to clients
enrolled in a debt settlement program. It is also hard
for collectors to violate FDCPA rights as every call to
the consumers home is monitored. If and when FDCPA rights
are violated, we will have a record of the violation and
can use that to file a complaint against the collector.
The Shield informs collectors about the financial hardship
faced by debt settlement clients and asks the collectors
to not call the client again. The Shield then instructs
the collectors to contact the debt settlement company
that is working with the client.
